Building in Vail
Vail sits at about 8,150 feet in the Gore Creek valley of Eagle County, strung along I-70 below Vail Pass. The town grew up around the ski resort that opened in the 1960s, so much of its building stock is condominiums, lodges, and homes from the first few decades of the resort, along with the shops and restaurants of Vail Village and Lionshead.
That makes renovation the core of the work here: updating older condos and homes, replacing worn exteriors, and building out commercial space. Snow loads are heavy, the exterior season is short, sites are tight, and staging and deliveries have to be planned around a busy resort.
Permits and jurisdiction
Building permits are issued by the Town of Vail, and exterior changes typically go through the town design review process before a permit is issued. Condominium projects usually need association approval as well. We line those up before the schedule is set.
