Loveland roots

Standard Building Company was founded in 2020 and is based at 1180 E. 3rd St. in Loveland, Colorado. Loveland is home, and it is where most of our work starts: older homes near downtown, mid-century houses around Lake Loveland, and newer subdivisions on the east side near I-25. From here we work north to Fort Collins and Wellington, east to Windsor, Johnstown, and Greeley, south to Berthoud and Longmont, and up the Big Thompson Canyon to Estes Park.

Being local matters for the small things as much as the big ones. Site visits, inspections, and punch list trips happen on short notice, and we already know the building departments, the utilities, and the inspectors.

Residential design-build

We are a design-build general contractor for homes. That means one firm designs the project, prices it as it is drawn, pulls the permit, and builds it. Whole-home remodels, kitchens, bathrooms, basement finishes, additions, custom homes, ADUs and garages, decks, roofing coordinated with a larger project, and the architectural design and permitting behind all of it.

We work on homes only. Commercial, industrial, and public projects are handled by Standard Development Company, a separate firm, and we refer that work there.

Led from the field

Behind Standard Building Company is a builder who came up running projects in the field: schedules, subcontractors, safety, inspections, and turnover to the owner. That background is held to ICC National Standard General Building Contractor (A) certification, the exam Colorado cities use to license general contractors, and to OSHA and MSHA 40-hour safety training.

The habits from that work show up on every house we touch. A written scope and price before anything starts. A schedule that is real, not optimistic. A clean, protected site. Inspections passed before the next phase begins. And a final walkthrough with the owner before we call the job done.

How we are different

Most remodelers subcontract design or skip it. Most designers do not build. We do both, and the difference shows up in three places. The drawings are buildable, because a builder reviewed them. The budget is real, because the plan was priced at every stage. And when something changes, there is one firm responsible, not two pointing at each other.

We also take mountain projects that many Front Range contractors will not. Estes Park, Winter Park, Steamboat Springs, Copper Mountain, Avon, Vail, and Aspen each have their own building department, design review, snow loads, and logistics. We plan for those from the first meeting and run the projects with a project lead on site through every critical phase.

Insurance, licensing, and permits

Standard Building Company is a Colorado corporation. We provide proof of insurance and the contractor license information your city or county requires before any contract is signed, and we pull permits under our own name on every project that requires one. Ask for the certificate and we will send it.

In the community

Our leadership serves on the board of Habitat for Humanity of Loveland. We believe in Loveland as a place to live and build, and we put time into keeping it that way.
